More Feline Than Canine was inspired by a letter my grandpa wrote to my grandma when they were courting back in 1957. He wrote so eloquently I ended up lifting some of his lines and mashed them into the lyrics. He was describing a fox hunt he witnessed from the top storey of a building. I wrote this song when I was staying in a cabin overlooking eastville park, escaping the world which was zapping me at the time. I had this very clear image of a little dishevelled fox that had found a little cave amidst a woodland. He lit himself a fire to regain strength again, eventually returning to cunningly navigate the predatory world he found himself in.
